Biography

Dr. Bartholomew grew up in Orem, Utah and served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints in the Philippines (Laoag) mission.

Afterwards he earned his Bachelor and Masters degrees in Technology and Engineering Education from Brigham Young University. Dr. Bartholomew taught middle school Technology and Engineering classes in Alpine School District at Vista Heights Middle School for three years before pursuing his PhD in Curriculum & Instruction from Utah State University. Dr. Bartholomew was an assistant professor of Engineering/Technology Teacher Education at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana for four years before joining the faculty at BYU.

Scott is actively involved in local and national professional organizations such as UACTE and ITEEA. He is a Fulbright Scholar (Philippines - 2023) and enjoys working on STEM teacher professional development across schools, districts, and countries. His research interests revolve around adaptive comparative judgment (ACJ) for open-ended design problems, Integrative STEM education, and STEM teacher professional development. He and his wife Julie live in Woodland Hills with their five children.
